This is an expedition rather than a guided trekking holiday. Participants become part of the working team and contribute to the practical jobs required to keep the journey moving.
You will carry a personal expedition pack, establish and break hammock camps, manage equipment in humid rainforest conditions, collect water and firewood, and learn to move safely through terrain without maintained trails.
Alongside the Surama guide team, participants will gain experience in basic jungle navigation, machete use, remote fishing, traditional forest knowledge and expedition campcraft.
The route itself also demands something harder to teach: patience, adaptability and the ability to make good decisions when the plan changes.
But we can put you in a place where discovery is still possible.
