Over six days, experience ranch life alongside the Kenyon family and their team. Ride horses across the savannah, learn traditional ranch skills, search for giant anteaters and, when conditions allow, join the work of moving and handling cattle.
But this is much more than a riding holiday.
Explore nearby mountains and forest, swim, walk the savannah at sunset or head out early when wildlife is most active. Activities are adapted around your interests, riding experience, weather and—most importantly—what is actually happening on the ranch.
This isn’t a staged ranch experience. You become part of ranch life while you’re there.

Meet the horses and begin with a riding session adapted to your experience.
Beginners can learn the fundamentals and build confidence around the ranch, while experienced riders may head directly onto the open savannah.
When ranch conditions allow, join the team in searching for and moving cattle—a chance to experience working ranch life from horseback.
Later, try activities such as lasso practice, bullwhip use or archery.

Giant Anteater Country
Start early while temperatures are still cool and head across the savannah with your guides in search of giant anteaters and other wildlife.
Return to the ranch for breakfast before enjoying a more relaxed middle of the day.
As temperatures fall later in the afternoon, head out again for horseback riding, a nature walk, ranch activities or a sunset excursion.
The programme remains flexible around wildlife activity, conditions and your interests.

Mountains & Forest
Today reveals a different side of the South Rupununi.
Leave the open savannah to explore the nearby mountain and forest landscape on foot, by vehicle or through a combination of both.
Depending on conditions and interests, explore forest trails, visit viewpoints, observe wildlife or find somewhere to swim.
The nearby Kusad Mountain area creates a dramatic backdrop and contrast to the open grasslands surrounding the ranch.

Your Ranch Day
Your final full day can be shaped around the experiences you have enjoyed most.
Head out for a longer horseback ride, search for wildlife or join ranch activities. Depending on the season and work taking place, there may be opportunities to observe or participate in moving cattle, lasso work or traditional branding activities.
Alternatively, slow things down with nature walks, swimming, archery or time around the ranch.
Finish with one final sunset across the South Rupununi.

Return to Lethem
Enjoy a relaxed final morning at Saddle Mountain Ranch.
Depending on departure time, take a short walk, spend some final time with the horses or simply enjoy the surrounding savannah.
Travel back to Lethem, where the experience concludes for onward travel through Guyana or a domestic flight to Georgetown.

Yes. Many of our shorter and private tours can be arranged without transportation from Georgetown included.
This can be a good option if you are already travelling independently in Guyana, have your own vehicle or transportation arrangements, or simply want greater freedom when planning your journey.
In these cases, we can arrange for you to meet your guide at the community, lodge or agreed starting point rather than travelling together from Georgetown.
If you prefer us to arrange more of the journey, this can often be incorporated as well. The idea behind these tours is to give you greater flexibility in how your adventure fits into the rest of your travels in Guyana.
We have tours suitable for a very broad range of travellers, from experienced adventurers to people visiting the rainforest for the first time.
Unlike our more demanding expeditions, many of these experiences can be adjusted around your interests, available time, physical ability, and preferred level of comfort.
This doesn’t mean every tour is suitable for every person. Some still involve hiking, camping, boats, or time in remote environments. Tell us what you are looking for, and we can help you choose, or adapt, an experience that is appropriate for you.
Yes. Many of our Tours in Guyana are particularly well suited to families and private groups.
Travelling privately gives us much more flexibility to balance adventure with comfort. Depending on the family, we can adjust walking distances, activities, accommodation, camping, and the overall pace of the trip.
Children can experience the rainforest, wildlife, rivers, and indigenous communities without the family necessarily having to commit to the physical demands of one of our full expeditions.
If you are travelling with children, tell us their ages and a little about your family’s previous travel and outdoor experience. We can then help create the right balance between adventure, learning, comfort, and fun.
It varies considerably.
Some of our tours are relatively comfortable and involve short walks, boat travel, wildlife watching and stays in communities or lodges. Others can include longer hikes, jungle camping, fishing, or more physically demanding activities.
One of the advantages of our private tours is that we can often adjust the itinerary around your abilities. If you want to explore Guyana but don’t want a strenuous expedition, that does not mean you have to miss out on the interior.
