WHERE THE WATER STILL FEELS WILD

Our fishing trips in Guyana are built around remote river systems, seasonal fish movement and access to waters far beyond conventional tourism.

From expedition-style hammock camps on remote tributaries to fully supported fishing operations on the Rewa River, each journey is shaped by the understanding that some of the best fishing is found furthest from the road. Water levels, season, river access and target species all influence where we fish and how each trip unfolds.

Travel alongside Indigenous guides and local fishing experts who know these waterways through generations of experience. Depending on the river and season, target species can include peacock bass, wolffish, payara, arapaima, giant catfish and other freshwater predators across blackwater creeks, flooded forest and jungle rivers of the Guiana Shield.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before booking your fishing trip

We recommend bringing your own fishing equipment if you have it, particularly if you are an experienced angler and prefer using familiar rods, reels and tackle.
However, you do not need to own specialist fishing equipment to join us. Fishing equipment can be provided or rented depending on the trip, and we can advise you on suitable tackle before travelling.
Once you have chosen your fishing trip and target species, we will provide more specific recommendations about what to bring.

Yes, on selected trips and in areas where Arapaima fishing is permitted and carefully managed.
Arapaima are an important and highly protected species, and fishing for them takes place under specific local and community management rules. They are always handled with particular care and released.
Arapaima fishing is not automatically included on every fishing trip and may involve an additional fee. If catching an Arapaima is one of your main objectives, tell us before booking so we can recommend the appropriate trip.

Guyana has an extraordinary diversity of freshwater fish, and the species available depend heavily on the river system and area you are visiting.
Depending on the trip, potential targets can include peacock bass, payara, Himara/wolffish, several species of catfish, arapaima, and many smaller predatory and sport fish.
Some of our fishing trips are built around particular target species, while others offer a much broader jungle fishing experience. If you have a specific fishing objective, let us know when you inquire, and we can help choose the most appropriate river, season and trip.

This depends entirely on the fishing experience you choose.
Some trips use comfortable indigenous or wilderness lodges, providing proper accommodation between fishing days. Others combine lodges with quality hammock camps along the river, while our more adventurous fishing expeditions may involve several days of remote expedition-style camping.
The individual trip page will clearly explain the accommodation and camping arrangements, so you know the level of comfort to expect before booking.

Yes, particularly for larger sport fish and sensitive species. Arapaima and other important large fish are released, and we encourage responsible handling to give released fish the best possible chance of recovery.
However, fishing is also part of everyday life in many of the indigenous communities and remote areas where we operate. Some common fish may therefore be kept for food during the trip rather than released.
Our approach is to fish responsibly and follow the knowledge, practices and management rules of the communities and river systems in which we operate.

No. You do not need to be an experienced angler to join one of our fishing trips.
Previous experience is certainly useful, particularly on trips targeting larger or more challenging species, but our guides can help you with the techniques, tackle and local fishing methods used during the trip.
Our fishing experiences can therefore suit everyone from first-time anglers to experienced fishermen looking for something completely different.

Dry season is best, but there isn’t one single best fishing season for the whole of Guyana. Water levels, rainfall, river systems, and target species all influence fishing conditions.
Some fisheries perform particularly well during lower-water periods, while other fishing opportunities depend on different seasonal conditions.
This is why our scheduled fishing expeditions are operated at particular times of year. If you are arranging a private trip, tell us which species you are most interested in targeting, and we can advise on the most appropriate destination and time of year.
