Join the exciting ” Guyana Jungle Mountain Adventure ” in the mountains near the community of Surama in Rupununi. Together with a team of expert indigenous guides, the team will venture deep into the jungle, searching for wildlife and experiences in the unique and intact rainforest. This is a physically challenging expedition that you can do either with participants carrying their equipment and taking part in setting up camp or, at an extra cost, add porters and cook-to-walk lightweight for a lighter walk throughout the trip.

The Guyana Mountain Tour will start from Surama Ecolodge, where participants will be equipped and prepared to set off on this jungle adventure trip. There is an extended range of equipment. The introductory trip will emphasise learning essential skills for being on an expedition in the jungle, as several of the guides have spent over 20 years leading and working with groups on short and long tours.

The Guyana Jungle Mountain Adventure is led by indigenous guides who will lead the way and share a rare chance to learn about their ancient culture and relation with the surrounding rainforest. These forests have been their fishing and hunting ground for generations, and they have formed an intimate relationship with them which they will share throughout the trip.

Participants can make this trip in different variations ranging from carrying their equipment, learning to set up camp and partaking in camp life, adding extra staff to carry gear, and setting up camp for participants at an additional cost. Whatever is chosen, this is a physically demanding trip that will need participants to walk in hills, have long days sweating while moving and be capable of carrying themselves through the forest for up to 8 hours per day.

Transportation to/from Surama is omitted but can be added from Georgetown (flight + vehicle) to Lethem(vehicle) at an additional cost. It is possible to travel by local bus for around 100 USD pr. Person one way from Georgetown or Lethem, but will have to be arranged directly by an external provider.
